London-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Tommy Down released his new single, ‘Do You Want It All?’, on February 28 via Declo Grey. Premiered by CLASH Magazine, the track is the first offering from his forthcoming EP, slated for release later this year. Tommy has collaborated with Grammy-nominated producers and earned millions of streams from his breakout hit ‘Mrs. Blue’. His music has also been featured in several episodes of HBO’s Industry, co-created by his brother Mickey Down. Tommy’s musical journey began at fourteen, with roots in jazz, rock, and soul, and a strong connection to his UK-Ghanaian heritage. A former member of Bristol jazz band BUJO, he later moved to London to refine his sound, releasing 21st Century Living in 2020. Known for his raw, heartfelt performances reminiscent of Paolo Nutini and Tame Impala, he draws inspiration from a wide array of artists, from Marvin Gaye to Oasis and beyond.

‘Do You Want It All?’ fuses dreamy soul with reverb-drenched psychedelia, drawing influence from Mazzy Star, Radiohead, and Jeff Buckley. The track evokes an existential longing, merging airy guitars and lush reverb with thought-provoking lyrics. The song delves into the struggle between staying true to oneself and chasing worldly success, encouraging listeners to contemplate life from a broader, more reflective viewpoint.

“The song draws from some Radiohead tracks like ‘Creep’ but with a shoegazery spin to it,” Tommy shared. “Mazzy Star is also an inspiration. The lyrics are about maintaining your soul and morals in your pursuit to gaining all your worldly possessions and acclaim. Managed to get a Bob Marley quote in there ‘Live for yourself and live in vain but live for others and you will live again’.”
