On January 30, 2025, the FireAid benefit concert took place in Inglewood, California, spanning two iconic venues: the Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum. Organised by the Annenberg Foundation, the event aimed to raise funds for individuals affected by the recent Southern California wildfires and to support future wildfire prevention initiatives. The concert featured an impressive lineup of over 30 artists, including Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. A standout moment of the night was a special reunion of Nirvana’s surviving members, who performed with guest vocalists like St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Joan Jett. With a global audience of over 50 million tuning in via livestreams and television broadcasts, the concert became a powerful demonstration of music’s ability to unite and mobilise support for critical causes.

The fundraiser saw an overwhelming response, collecting more than $100 million through ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations. Notable contributions included $1 million from U2 and a pledge from Steve and Connie Ballmer to match donations dollar for dollar. The funds raised will go toward both immediate relief and long-term wildfire recovery efforts in Los Angeles, with the first round of aid set for distribution in mid-February. Beyond financial support, the concert served as a reminder of resilience and collective action in times of crisis.
