Having just dropped a new song named ‘Consequences’, Faroese American singer Marianna Winter warns us, and she does so with personality and flare. With lightness, she croons, layering harmonies to great a subtle gentleness that juxtaposes the assertiveness of the lyrics. Out now via Tutl Records.

She isn’t a person who is used to plotting and scheming. She says, “I don’t usually go around thinking about stealing puppies or ruining anybody’s life.” However, she readily admits that the “… deepest, darkest part of me, rooted in jealousy and feeling small, is always there, lurking.”
Marianna Winter stands out as one of the few female artists doing what she is doing, and that is taking the lead in the lo-fi underground scene in the Faroe Islands, where she spent some of her time growing up. The rest of it was spent in California, where she honed her pop flavour.
