“This story is about a young girl who spends her days creating origami birds and paper planes. Her biggest wish is for one of her creations to come to life. Maybe it would… If it was folded just perfectly,” he explains
The bold colours and shapes by New York times illustrator Maria Medem is an enchanting visual accompaniment to the track, truly capturing the essence of the delicate piano tones.
“I have been a big admirer of María Medem’s art and storytelling for a long time so working together on the video for Paloma Blanca has been incredible. Her vivid colours and imagery flows seamlessly with the music and makes me believe in magic”, he says.
The illustration and style of the video draws parallels to the music, in that both are uncluttered but through their simplicity make great impact. Perhaps the video speaks metaphorically of the never-ending pursuit for things we cannot obtain – ironically using stripped down visuals and a minimal piano offering.
