London based producer and DJ Elkka (real name Emma Kirby) shares new single ‘Voices’, taken from forthcoming EP “Harmonic Frequencies”. Written during a time of uncertainty during the last few months of 2020, Emma explores more ambient and calming soundscapes on ‘Voices’, resulting in a cathartic and healing experience, in which we hear snippets of LA based composer Julianna Barwick’s meditative vocals sampled.
Speaking more on the track Emma commented that “During this period of time I was listening to a lot of non club music and I kept coming back to Juliana’s Barwick’s album ‘Healing Is A Miracle’ – again in search of something to help me feel better, to ground me essentially.”
“‘Inspirit’ (from ‘Healing Is A Miracle’) is such a beautiful song with it’s haunting vocals that really resonated with me. I am very grateful to Juliana for letting me use her song and for what the original did for me during that time”.
Emma’s “Euphoric Melodies” EP released earlier this year received impressive support from the likes of The Guardian, Crack, Billboard, NME, DJ Mag, Mixmag and Resident Advisor who said “Intimate, uplifting and personal, Euphoric Melodies is a collection of house songs bearing all the hallmarks of a crossover success”. Strong radio support came from Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Jamz Supernova and Mary Anne Hobbs to name a few.
Deciding to take full artistic control over her music Emma made the shift from singer / songwriter to producer and artist in 2016. Over the years Emma has gained support from well known peers such as Four Tet, Floating Points, George Fitzgerald, SHERELLE, Annie Mac and Caribou who she will be supporting on his upcoming tour which includes dates at iconic London venue Brixton Academy. Recent tour dates have included stand-out sets at Printworks, Field Day and Lost Village to name a few.
‘Voices’ is out today with “Harmonic Frequencies” EP out 19th November on Technicolour.
