Mik Ivy‘s new single, ‘Superman’, released on 26 June 2024, sets the stage for his debut album, DO NOT TAKE THE FLOWERS, dropping on 12 July. At only 20, the singer-songwriter draws inspiration from artists like Arctic Monkeys, Mac Miller, Steve Lacy, Tyler, the Creator, and The Strokes. His music captures modern youth culture, blending indie pop and alternative rock into an electrifying soundscape that explores young love, hope, and self-acceptance.

‘Superman’ highlights his powerful yet soothing vocal presence, merging R&B and pop influences effortlessly. Produced by BALTHAZARD, the track evokes early 2000s nostalgia with its smooth arrangements and production. The song skillfully combines a variety of genres, creating a direct, heartfelt tune reminiscent of Ed Sheeran and Justin Timberlake. Mik‘s knack for finding pleasing melodic pockets is evident, and the production is both contemporary and relaxed, reflecting his impressive songwriting skills.

He shares “‘Superman’ to me represents an essential facet of my musical identity, which consists of very upbeat and hype instrumentals layered over hard-hitting, emotionally raw lyrics. I believe this contrast works particularly well in the case of ‘Superman’, already making it a staple of my discography.”
