EMMI IIDA finally unveiled her dreamy debut album, The Eye, on the 22nd of February 2024 via her label EFG Records. The album follows the release of four of its singles – ‘Blooming’, ‘Energy Guru’, ‘Trinity’ and ‘Higher Self’ over the last months. The songs in the project were written by EMMI herself and co-written and produced by Jessica Sharman, while the album was mixed & mastered by Femke Weidema. EMMI IIDA is a multi-modal creative – a visual artist, holistic interior architect & musician, carving a unique space for herself in the music industry while founding her own record label and production company (EFG Productions). EMMI IIDA has received support from distinguished publications and stations such as Wonderland Magazine, Notion Magazine, METAL Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOCTIS Mag, Earmilk, BBC 6’s Craig Charles, RTÉ 2FM, Triple J, as well as securing her an interview with MTV Finland. EMMI is looking forward to performing at Timeless Festival in Cape Town, South Africa in April 2024.
The Eye is a 14-track journey into EMMI IIDA‘s sonic universe, exploring themes of self-actualization, intimacy, cosmic meaning, love, empowerment, and spirituality. EMMI’s rich and inspiring lyrics are brought to life through her smooth, ethereal vocal delivery, both spoken and sung. The project is held together by crisp, reverberant, and genre-defying production, while each track offers distinct mood and energy, ranging from the trippy chillhop of ‘Higher Self’ to sultry spoken-word in ‘Trinity’ to the avant-pop anthem ‘Our Love’ featuring Bryce Green‘s tender rap verses and vocals. The Eye provides a deeply spiritual sonic experience with its meditative ease and powerful passion.
EMMI IIDA revealed: “Making this album has been a healing journey for me. Losing a baby girl four years ago to divorcing last year, being a channel for these songs has helped me navigate life and alchemizing these setbacks into something beautiful and finding hope, happiness and that overpouring flow of love.”
