Indie rocker Dave Curl dropped his second album, Lockdown – Seven Nations, on February 23, 2024. The album follows the release of his impactful single, ‘Lockdown’, on January 19, 2024. The Australian-Swiss singer-songwriter and producer has garnered over 1.5 million Spotify streams, global indie radio airplay, and performed at notable venues like Kulturkoller Club. Influenced by 80s and 90s icons like Sting and AC/DC, as well as contemporary artists such as Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, Curl’s music fuses folk, pop, and rock, attracting fans of anti-establishment sounds akin to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Lou Reed.
‘Lockdown’ is a powerful rock song delving into a tumultuous world, juxtaposing the singer in tranquil settings with global suffering in its music video. The album Lockdown – Seven Nations showcases eight distinct renditions of the song by artists hailing from seven countries, surpassing language barriers through a common musical language, culminating in a distinctive global anthology of profound perspectives.
Dave Curl revealed: “During the Covid-19 time I had all these emotions that just needed to be expressed in a creative way. At the time I was just overwhelmed about all the “shitshows” going on, but with some distance and time I found the hook (chorus) for the song and could finally use all those pages I had filled with words of anger, fear, hope and disbelief.”
