Vancouver-born singer, songwriter, and producer Serena Sun unveils her latest single, ‘Tell Me… Please’, out 30 October via Slice of the Sun Records and Head Bitch Music, as anticipation mounts for her debut album Slice of the Sun, set for release on 15 January 2027. With over 3.4 million streams spanning Canada, the UK, and Europe, Serena Sun’s rise is underscored by her selection as a Spotify Fresh Finds Forward Artist for 2026, sold-out headline shows in Vancouver and London, and an eight-date European tour supporting LEITH. She has appeared on festival stages at Rifflandia and Khatsahlano, opened for RINI, Luna Li, Jo Hill, and Michael Seyer, and shared lineups with Lorde, Lauv, and Charli XCX. Her growing recognition includes a shortlist spot in the Glastonbury 2025 Emerging Talent Competition, coverage from BBC Introducing London, EARMILK, and CBC, and a recent sync placement on Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant.
‘Tell Me… Please’ unfolds with understated acoustic guitar, gradually accented by processed electric leads that lend the track a spacious, atmospheric quality. Subtle acoustic percussion underpins Serena Sun’s introspective lyricism, delving into themes of youth, coming of age, and uncertainty. The lyric video, rendered in stylized animation with recurring rabbit motifs and hand-drawn lettering, extends the song’s narrative arc. Crisp pop hooks anchor the track, while the restrained production foregrounds the songwriting’s emotional clarity. With this release, Serena Sun situates herself among contemporaries such as Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy, and Adrianne Lenker.
Serena Sun’s musical journey began with piano at age five, evolving into songwriting and production during her teenage years. Her three-year residency in London from 2023 to 2026 shapes the thematic heart of Slice of the Sun, reflecting on growth, homesickness, self-doubt, and renewal. Traces of Samia, Dora Jar, Del Water Gap, and Slow Pulp emerge in her airy vocal timbre, narrative-driven lyricism, and a production palette that shifts between acoustic textures, dreamy indie pop, and raw guitar tones. Serena Sun will support Cristina Hart, who previously opened for Louis Tomlinson, at Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge on 10 November 2026.
Serena Sun shared: “I wrote ‘Tell Me… Please’ as a plea to God, begging for a sign for what to do next. It’s about releasing control after feeling the pressure of my fate being in my hands and looking outside myself for help.”
