Emerging independent Dutch pop artist YME (Ymke de Bijl) released a gorgeous new single, ‘Come Closer’, on January 12, 2024. Ymkje is the daughter of Esther de Bijl aka E-Starr, who is known as the female vocalist of the 80’s hit group Ottawan, who boast hits like ‘D.I.S.C.O.’ and ‘Hands Up’. The producers from Ottawan are Jean Kluger and Daniel Banghalter, whose son is Thomas Banghalter of Daft Punk. YME is both songwriter and producer alongside Marco Roosink.
Her songs are about her personal experiences, about her autism and being bullied at her elementary school time.
Drawing influences from renowned artists such as Disclosure, Calvin Harris, Zedd, Martin Garrix, and Avicii, YME has crafted a truly unique sound characterized by their exceptional vocal presence and a mixture of energetic and relaxed moods.

‘Come Closer’ is a euphoric and romantic, club-ready banger that showcases YME’s distinctive style, firmly rooted in the realms of electronic and pop genres. With a BPM of 122, slight variations in tempo and energy, impeccable production and lyrics about vulnerability, it is an anthem of reassurance for any young person who is afraid of falling in love again.

YME hopes her listeners who might struggle with mental health can find solace in her music, urging them to “[b]e brave and don’t let your disorder hold you down.”
